Frequently Asked Questions

As an avid world traveler, I’ll go wherever you need me! Domestic or international, I’m game!

To ensure I’m available for your big day, please get in touch soon as dates fill up quickly, especially for weekends. If you plan on going international, I may need to apply for any required visas, too.

  1. Before you book me, we’ll make sure our schedules align so that we can make it happen!
  2. At booking, we will calculate the total cost of travel and lodging.
  3. Throughout the planning process, we will communicate about your big day and go over a shot list and a rough itinerary, just so I have an idea of what to expect and what approach I should take. I’ll ask for a finalized itinerary as your wedding day gets closer.
  4. Two days before the wedding I will travel to the location to scout for good places for photographs.
  5. From there, we will follow the plan we went over and enjoy the festivities!
  6. I will leave the day after your wedding, unless I plan on prolonging the trip.

Here’s an example destination wedding scenario: A couple books me for a Saturday wedding in Tokyo, Japan. They need me for 8 hours of coverage. Prior to booking, I will go over with them the cost of a round-trip ticket from my home airport of Washington Dulles (IAD) to the most convenient airport in Tokyo, which would be either Haneda (HND) or Narita (NRT). I will also let calculate the total lodging cost for a maximum 3 night’s stay at a hotel most convenient to the wedding venue. The travel and lodging totals plus the 8 hour wedding package cost will be added together and that will represent the total cost of my photography services for their destination wedding. I will handle booking myself for the flight and hotel, so it will be one less thing to worry about. I’ll also handle the rest of the extra costs involved such as any extra nights, rideshares, taxis, meals, and so on. For a Saturday wedding, I will arrive on the Thursday before, and I will leave on Sunday.

I would consider any location within a reasonable 1 hour drive one way as a “local” wedding that won’t require additional expenses. Also, if you choose to host your wedding in the Hampton Roads area (shout out 757!), I will not require any additional expenses either!

Outside of those locations, I’ll consider it a “destination” wedding and kindly ask to cover certain travel and lodging expenses.

I know you have a lot of things to plan for and I am all for making the process as easy and stress-free as possible!

Basically, my destination wedding rate is the same as any of my wedding packages with travel and lodging added. That’s it! To make it easy on you, I will make my own arrangements for travel and lodging, you will simply be “reimbursing” me via the established payment plan we agree on.

Regarding flights, the minimum is a round-trip ticket in economy (not basic) class. If the destination is far for a drive but not far enough for a flight, I’ll simply charge for gas per mile. Lodging minimum is a double twin or queen bed for a maximum of three nights. I will do a cost comparison and provide a breakdown for your convenience.

Here’s a quick example of an expense breakdown:
Elopement Package (2 hours): $1100
Round-trip ticket: $500
3x night hotel stay: $150 per night
$1100 + $500 + (3 x $150) = $2050 total

If I decide to stay an extra day or two, I will cover any extra expenses on my dime. The total destination package cost will remain the same either way. Keep in mind, the above is just an example. Actual costs will depend on the coverage you need and the location you choose.

I will promise between 50 to 75 retouched photos per hour of coverage, but I tend to deliver closer to 150 per hour.

I will set up a convenient payment schedule that works best for you! I do require a non-refundable retainer equal to 25% of your package cost that will be due at signing, with the full balance due at least a month before your wedding day.

Life’s unpredictable, and I completely get that plans can change. If you need to reschedule, we’ll work together to pick a new date. If rescheduling doesn’t work out or you have to cancel, any payments made beyond the retainer fee will be refunded. As a goodwill gesture, the retainer can be used towards the cost of any future photography services you might like!

Absolutely! I am fully insured as a business and will gladly provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) if it is needed. On top of that, my gear is insured, my health is insured, I have car insurance, you name it!
